Zippy's Restaurants / Hawaii

We walked into Zippy’s early one morning to find a delightful restaurant full of local people. I feel that to review Zippy’s, I review a Hawaiian institution, a 43 year history. That means something to me, 43 years in business! Zippy’s is tradition, a tradition that is Hawaii. We are visitors, but at Zippy’s everyone is a customer. You know what, this is a very nice feeling to be treated as a customer. Zippy's does it best when it comes to customers.

We rented a car and headed out for a day around Oahu. The weather was picture Hawaiian perfect. Light winds, the sun was everywhere, it was 7:00am in the morning. We were happy just letting the wind blow us where ever. As we were hungry, the wind blew us in the direction of Zippy’s!

We entered the restaurant and we were immediately greeted with a smile, and seated within seconds. We had a wonderful table overlooking a harbor, we stuck into the menu as we had never visited a Zippy’s before. While we were reading the menu, a glass of ice water was placed on our table, along with two cups of steaming hot coffee. Our waitress was smiling every time she approached our table. She could see that we were deep into studying our menus so she did not bother us once. We made our decision, and she ran off to place our order.

On a side note, our waitress never stopped once, never sat down once, if she was delivering food to a table, she was clearing plates off of tables. Our waitress made us feel welcome, and she was rock and roll cool! Then something happened that I never thought could never happen in 2009. Our waitress refilled our coffees without even asking us! This was so kind of her to make us feel so welcome. I’m sorry as I have to repeat that again. “Our waitress refilled our coffees”! We had just stepped into restaurant heaven, we were so happy! Our waitress was so kind with warm smiles, professional attitude, and her passion to serve every customer was contagious.

The restaurant was so clean, from the floor to the ceiling, this is a restaurant that is cleaned every day. My hats off to the cleaners, you guys do a great job that is a very hard job, thank-you cleaners. Our food arrived a little while later, all was hot, and presented well on our plates. We had ordered French Toast, and this was the “BEST” French Toast we have ever had in our lives! In fact we often dream of Zippy’s French Toast, I highly recommend Zippy’s French Toast as a must to order. Then our waitress refilled our coffee cups, this is starting to get serious to a level that we did not want to leave!

Zippy’s is all about their staff, Zippy’s is all about their food, and Zippy’s is all about their customers. Zippy’s can only be a two thumbs up restaurant that we cannot wait till we return back to Hawaii again to visit Zippy’s first! I would not normally thank a restaurant in a review for the service, the food, and the kindness we received on this day.
